Quick mediation!

Once again, civilians in Burundi have paid the high price of bad governance policy of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Indeed, last Wednesday, September 15, northwest of Bujumbura, heavily armed menhave yet coldly killed at least seven civilians and ten wounded, someare in critical condition. Italso recalls the night of 10 to 11 September last, a policeman and fourcivilians were killed in another clash occurred north and center of thecountry.

Theleast we can say is that this attack, which has the distinction ofbeing perpetrated in broad daylight, is a strong signal towards therebels to Burundi. If,for many observers, these armed groups are neither more nor less than anew rebellion that resurfaced in this country, the Burundianauthorities, it was rather to deal with unidentified villains who rape, pillage and kill populations. The fact is that, as if to invite a reappraisal Nkurunziza, the rebels seem ready to put the country with fire and blood. But is this the right way to be heard? Probably not.

Certainly, one can understand the great animosity they feed on with respect to theBurundian president who installed an autocratic regime in which hisvoice is unique account. But the rebels also sin by having opted for the solution of weapons. Inany case, if indeed they are fighting for the interest of their country, it is neither necessary nor reasonable for the opponents Nkurunziza to return blow for blow, at the risk of themselves for goingDoes in-war.

Inany event, the two bloody attacks perpetrated in less than a weekapart, are sufficient indication that Burundi, which is emerging fromthirteen years of civil war, still runs the risk of waking her olddemons. Onewonders what is expected by the international community in general andthe African Union in particular to suppress the evil in the bud beforeit takes root permanently. Should we wait for the irreparable finally rush to the ruins? A doctor after death is far from being one. Then, quickly mediation!
